My First Knit Shawl Pattern

Today's pattern is a the My First Knit Shawl! Really, it is the first published knit shawl. Here's the thing, I have issues with knitting larger projects with small needles. They tend to make their way into the WIP pile while I move onto another design. Also, I never wore shawls. So I wanted to start out with a simple, almost mindless knitting design. I added a decorative panel in the middle so it's not tooooo boring ;)

PATTERN NOTES

Slip all stitches purl wise with yarn in back. Slip the first and last stitch on the right side knit wise with yarn in back. The middle 16 stitches (updated 9/27) are marked for the decorative panel. The instructions for the decorative panel are in-between brackets [ ]. Each right side row increases a total of 4 stitches.
