Knit Doran Pebbles Beanie Pattern & Tutorial

Today's tutorial is on the Knit Doran Pebbles Beanie. I designed this beanie during our recent camping trip to celebrate my son's 8th birthday! I always pack waaaay more yarn than I need (in case) lol.

I'm not sure why or how I came up with this idea but I wanted a chunky beanie since it was cool in the coast... much cooler than summer at home!

This free pattern is for a slouchy adult size. To purchase an ad-free pdf pattern available in Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult), please visit any of my shops. The pdf pattern is for a fitted or slouch beanie.

SUPPLIES:

  • Super Bulky Yarn - Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick and Quick, 106 yards. Click on below photo to purchase.

  • 9mm & 10mm Circular Needles (16") - I use Hiya Hiya Interchangeable Needles

  • 10mm Double Pointed Needles or try the Modified Magic Loop Method!

  • Stitch Marker (make your own stitch marker!)

ABBREVIATIONS

co – Cast on

st(s) – Stitch(es)

k – Knit

p – Purl

rep – Repeat

k2tog – Knit 2 sts together

LH – Left Hand | RH – Right

m1 – Make one (increase) – With right needle, pick up horizontal bar between 2 sts and place it on left needle. Knit st in the back loop.

Special Stitch: Little Leaves (see video below)

*From the 3rd st on LH needle, insert RH needle in 4th st 4 rows below, draw up a long loop, place loop on LH needle, yarn over. Repeat from * 2 more times, skipping last yarn over st. Knit 4 sts through back loops. Pass the yarn over sts over the just knitted stitch.

INSTRUCTIONS

Co 42 and add stitch marker and join careful not to twist sts. (I use the invisible joining method which requires 1 additional st)

BRIM | US13/9mm Needles

k1, p1 around for 4 (5, 6, 7) rounds or as tall as you’d like.

BEANIE | US15/10mm Needles

Set up Round: [k21, m1} twice (44 sts).

Rounds 1-5: knit all sts

Round 6: *k4, leaf stitch (see special st or below video). Rep from * around.

Note: The last leaf stitch will be worked into a st in the new round.

Repeat Rounds 1 & 6 until you have 5 leaf rows for the SLOUCH beanie. End after round 6. Knit more rounds if you want it slouchier.

Decrease Rounds – Switch to dpns when stitches are too tight or use magic loop method.

Round 1: knit all sts

Round 2: k1, k2tog, *k3, k2tog. Rep from * around.

Round 3: knit all sts

Round 4: k1, k2tog, *k2, k2tog. Rep from * around. End with k1.

Round 5: *k1, k2tog. Rep from * around. End with k1.

Complete round 6 decrease if you still have too many sts on needles.

Round 6: k2tog around.

Cut yarn leaving long tail. Using a tapestry needle, weave through remaining stitches as if to knit and pull tight. Secure and weave in all ends.

Add a pom to finish it off!

See Yarn Pom Pom video below or Make a FAUX FUR POM!

The Doran Pebbles beanie pattern is such a cozy and textured look—I love how simple but stylish it is! I got into knitting to unwind from the intensity of my nursing studies, and patterns like this are perfect for a relaxing break. Balancing study time with hobbies like knitting hasn’t been easy, though. When things get hectic, I’ve relied on https://www.nursingpaper.com/ to help me keep up with assignments. Honestly, having that backup has been a lifesaver, letting me enjoy some knitting therapy without falling behind in school.
