Knit Dana Slouch Beanie Pattern

Today's pattern is for the Dana Slouch Beanie, named after Dana, owner of Pichinku. I was contacted by Dana about trying one of her naturally dyed Peruvian wool. The new Pichinku Website is coming this Fall! You can follow her on Instagram @PICHINKU.

"Pichinku (pee-cheen-koo, meaning "little bird" in the native Quechua language) produces 100% naturally dyed alpaca and wool yarns, lovingly made in small batches by the skilled hands of women artisans.

Pichinku yarn is sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially conscious. No chemicals, no nonsense, just beautiful yarn!"

Dana sent me the most beautiful hank of wool in Turquoise. The color is gorgeous! Words can't describe how gorgeous it really is with the naked eye! It is soft, works up beautifully and doesn't split.

My oldest son helped me wind it into a cake right away! He loves helping me with this process! I don't know if it's just me but I loved seeing a bit of the natural pieces used to dye the yarn in the cake.

Originally, I used a larger needle (6.5mm) because this is bulky yarn but I didn't like how loose the stitches were (I knit loosely too). I frogged it and started over. If yarn can take frogging and still work up nicely after, it's a winner for me!

I wanted to knit up a beanie that was simple but pleasing to the eye. This stitch is made using just knit & purl stitches but has such a beautiful texture.
