Knit Crossed Stitch Tutorial

Today's tutorial is on the Knit Cross stitch. This stitch uses a combination of stitches to create a "cross" look. It consists of only 2 row/round repeats & is in multiples of 2 stitches.

I've used this stitch in my Kross Slouch Beanie (pattern & beanie available in shops).

ABBREVIATIONS

co – Cast on

k – Knit

p – Purl

sl1p – Slip 1 stitch purlwise

wyib – With yarn in back

st(s) – Stitch(es)

rep – Repeat

psso – Pass slipped stitch over

In this video, I used Loops and Threads, Cozy Wool in the color Golden Rod. For the Needles, I used Hiya Hiya's Interchangeable Needles. These were the first set of Interchangeable Needles and was a total game changer (for me anyway). There are so many out there. If you plan to invest, make sure it works for you. I can recommend all my favorites, but we are all different and knit differently as well!. I love these because they are short tips making it perfect for beanies (my favorite things to make!). They're slick which helps me knit smoothly. If slippery needles aren't for you, these are not going to be your favorite. You may enjoy smoother wood needles like Knitter's Pride's Ginger Interchangeable Needles.

Instructions for working flat:

Cast on any even number of sts.

Row 1 (wrong side): Purl all sts.

Row 2 (right side): *sl1p wyib, k1, yo, psso. Rep from * accross.

Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until desired size.

Instructions for working in the round:

Video tutorial is at the bottom of page.

Cast on any even number of sts. Add stitch marker, careful not to twist sts.

Round 1: Knit all sts.

Round 2: *sl1p wyib, k1, yo, psso. Rep from * around.

Repeat Rounds 1 & 2 until desired size.
