Crochet Even Moss Stitch Tutorial

I've loved the Even Moss Stitch for a very long time now. This stitch is also known as the Crunch Stitch. I've used it to make dishcloths and a child's bonnet. My next project is a Crochet Super Scarf using this stitch.

This stitch is so simple consisting of only Slip Stitches and Half Double Crochets.

Gather your materials and let's get started!

Supplies:

• Any weight yarn | I'm using Super Bulky, Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick & Quick (Peacock).

• US 10mm Crochet Hook | Use whatever size hook is recommended with your yarn size | I'm using a handmade double ended hook from Heart Sprinkle

• Yarn Needle

• Scissor

Abbreviations:

ch - Chain

st(s) - Stitch(es)

sl st - Slip Stitch

hdc - Half Double Crochet

Pattern:

Foundation: ch an EVEN number of sts

Row 1: sl st into the SECOND chain from the hook, *1hdc into next st, 1 sl st into next. Repeat from * to end.

Note: You will always start & end with a slip stitch.

Row 2: ch1 & turn. 1 sl st into the (first) same st, *1hdc into next st, 1 sl st into next. Repeat from * to end.

Note: You will be working the slip stitches into the slip stitch in previous row & half double crochets into the half double crochet from previous row.

Repeat Row 2 until desired length. Fasten off and weave in ends with yarn needle.

Note: Make sure the "bumps" line up in each row. If not, you're working the sts into the wrong space.
