Crochet Chunky Granny Square Tutorial

Today is all about chunky & cozy granny squares! I've been trying to figure out what to do with the left over yarn I have after making a beanie... I'm hoping that I can make enough of these to stitch them together to make a blanket. I reeeeeeallllly hate (dislike) sewing pieces together but I'm going to try my best!

I have a tutorial on How to Crochet the (traditional) granny square here but this one is different... it's not as lacy (with holes) as the traditional granny squares.

Although I'm using super bulky yarn in this pattern, any size yarn with recommended hook will work!

Supplies:

Super Chunky Yarn | 1.5 oz, 18 yards | or whatever yarn you'd like

9mm Crochet hook | or appropriate size for your yarn

Scissors

Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:

ch - chain

sl st - slip stitch

sp - space

st(s) - stitch(es)

dc - double crochet

Pattern Notes: The ch3 counts as a double crochet stitch. The square measures 6.5 x 6.5 inches.

Pattern:

Round 1: Start with a magic ring, ch3+2 (corner ch2 space), 3dc into the magic ring, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 2dc Sl st to the 3rd ch from the beginning ch3.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
