Crochet Bobble Stitch Tutorial

There are many variations of the Crochet Bobble Stitch. This is just one of them. The typical bobbles are closer together worked with just single crochet. It can be stacked or staggered (like this one).

ABREVIATIONS

ch - Chain

st(s) - Stitch(es)

sc - Single Crochet

dc - Double Crochet

yo - Yarn over

Special Stitch: MB (Make Bobble): All in the same stitch: [yo, insert hook into st, yo, pull up a loop, yo pull through 2 loops] 4 times, yo, pull through all 5 loops on hook. ch1 to secure.

NOTES: the ch1 does not count as a stitch but the ch3 at odd number rows counts as first dc st.

STITCH PATTERN

Chain in multiples of 4 + 3

Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch from the hook & every ch st across

Row 2: ch1 & turn your work, 1sc in the first 2 sts, *MB, 1sc in next 3 sts, Rep from * across until last 3 sts. End with [MB, 1sc in last 3 sts]

Row 3: ch3 (counts as dc st) & turn, 1dc in every st across (make sure you work 1 dc into bobble only).

Row 4: ch1 & turn your work, 1sc in the first 4 sts, MB, *1sc in next 3 sts, MB. Rep from * until last 4 sts. End with [1sc in last 4 sts]

Row 5: ch3 & turn, 1dc in every stitch across.

Repeat Rows 2-5 until desired size.
