How to Catch Your Floats in Stranded Knitting

Writer: Phanessa FongPhanessa Fong

Welcome! Today's video (I actually have 2!) tutorial, I demonstrate how I catch my floats on the wrong side in Stranded knitting or Fair Isle.

The first video demonstrates how I change between 2 colors (see below video). Watch that video on my channel!

A float is the strand that is being carried on the wrong side of your work. You can imagine if you have to knit several more stitches, you'll be pulling the other strand along creating a long (unattractive) strand. Sure no on is going to see it, but it can be messy and get caught (on your ears?). lol

I just sent out my Knit Almas Slouch beanie to my testers along with the CROCHET Almas Slouch. I'm super excited to see everyone's beanie!

Don't forget to subscribe to my blog and follow me over on Instagram @Designsbyphanessa. It's the platform I use the most to announce new patterns, request for testers and host giveaways! If you enjoy the video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my YouTube Channel!

For knitters, especially beginners, managing floats can be tricky. Do you find big tower tiny square catching floats helpful, or do you prefer to let them run freely and deal with them later?

Along with the CROCHET Almas Slouch, I have recently sent out the Knit Slouch beanie to my testers. It will be very cool geometry dash breeze to see everyone's beanies!
